Ma On Shan

Ma On Shan is a new town along the eastern coast of Tolo Harbour in the New Territories of Hong Kong. Although it was initially an extension of Sha Tin New Town, it has its own town centre and various government facilities, and is now classified as a separate new town in government reports.[1] Administratively, it belongs to Sha Tin District.

Tai Shui Hang

Tai Shui Hang is a stream located in the Sha Tin District of Hong Kong, situated in the southern part of Ma On Shan, near the area north of A Kung Kok. This stream is part of the Ma On Shan New Town, with its upper reaches known as Ma Tai Stream, then flowing through Mui Tsz Lam, and ultimately being referred to as "Tai Shui Hang" near the village of Tai Shui Hang. In a section before the Tai Shui Hang Tsuen, the stream is channelled into a culvert and eventually flows into the sea in Sha Tin.

Heng On Station

Heng On (Chinese: 恆安; Cantonese Yale: Hàng'ōn) is a station on the Tuen Ma line of Hong Kong MTR, named after the nearby Heng On Estate. It also serves other residential areas like Kam Fung Court, Kam On Court, Baycrest, Vista Paradiso, and Yiu On Estate. It also serves over 10 schools (including Renaissance College) and two sports centres – Ma On Shan Sports Ground and Heng On Sports Centre.

Yiu On Estate

Yiu On Estate is located in the eastern part of Ma On Shan, Sha Tin District, in the New Territories of Hong Kong. It is the second public housing estate to be completed in the Ma On Shan New Town and was constructed in 1988. The estate comprises seven residential buildings and was one of the early public housing developments to be included in the Home Ownership Scheme (HOS). It was built on the site of the former iron ore shipment pier for the former Ma On Shan mine.

Ma On Shan Town Centre

Ma On Shan is located in the northeastern part of the New Territories in Hong Kong, spanning across the Sha Tin and Tai Po districts. It is one of the highest major peaks in the eastern New Territories, standing at an elevation of 702 meters, ranking as the sixth highest peak in Hong Kong. The name "Ma On Shan" comes from its two peaks that resemble a saddle shape. The eastern side of Ma On Shan features steep terrain with significant elevation changes, while the southern part boasts the Ang Ping Grassland, one of the few highland plains in the region, offering barbecue facilities and scenic views. The geological features of the Ma On Shan area include tuff, siltstone, dolomite, and granite. It was also home to Hong Kong's only industrial iron ore mine in the past.

Wu Kai Sha Station

Wu Kai Sha (Chinese: 烏溪沙),formerly known as Wu Kwai Sha or U Kwai Sha (烏龜沙: Literally Black Turtle Sands),is a place at the shore of Tolo Harbour, northwest of Ma On Shan in the New Territories, Hong Kong. Wu Kai Sha is within the Sha Tin District, one of the 18 districts of Hong Kong. The name roughly translates as Black Sand Creek, based on the accumulation of black iron ore which traditionally flowed down from the Ma On Shan (peak).

Nai Chung

Nai Chung is located in the eastern part of the New Territories in Hong Kong, near the northwest of Ma On Shan New Town and Sai Kung Town. It is a wetland area known for its mangroves and shellfish. Nai Chung is also a popular spot for barbecues and kite-flying, featuring barbecue facilities and beautiful rocky beaches. With the opening of Sai Sha Road, it has become easier to access Nai Chung without the need to go through Sai Kung.

Light Rail

The Light Rail, also known as the Light Rail Transit (LRT),officially the North-West Railway, is a light rail system in Hong Kong, serving the northwestern New Territories, within Tuen Mun District and Yuen Long District. The system operates over 1,435 mm (4 ft 8+1⁄2 in) standard gauge track, using 750 V DC overhead power supply. It was once one of four systems comprising the KCR network in Hong Kong, before the MTR–KCR merger in 2007. It has a daily ridership of about 483,000 people.

Kowloon Motor Bus

The Kowloon Motor Bus Company (1933) Limited (KMB) is a bus company operating franchised services in Hong Kong. It is the largest bus company in Hong Kong by fleet size and number of bus routes, with over 4000 buses and 420 routes. It is a subsidiary of Transport International.

Peak Tram

Operated since 1888, it was the first funicular railway in Asia.

Due to the traffic control measures implemented since the opening of the Discovery Bay Tunnel, which serves as the main access point to Discovery Bay, restricting the passage of other vehicles, Discovery Bay Bus is the only organization that offers land-based public transportation services in the Discovery Bay area.
