Che Kung Temple in Sha Tin is an ancient temple located on Che Kung Miu Road, built in honor of General Che Kung from the Southern Song Dynasty. General Che Kung was granted the title of "Great General" for his contributions in quelling uprisings in southern China, and he protected the fleeing Song Emperor during the Mongol invasion towards the end of the Southern Song Dynasty. Legend has it that General Che Kung escorted the Song Emperor to Hong Kong during that time, and in recognition of his loyalty and bravery, this magnificent temple was constructed. Inside the temple, there is a colossal statue of Che Kung and several windmills (wheels of fortune). Visitors come here to pay their respects and seek blessings, as it is believed that turning the windmills three times can bring good fortune. Additionally, the temple is particularly popular on the third day of the lunar new year when it is believed that worshipping here can resolve disputes and conflicts. Che Kung Temple in Sha Tin was designated as a Grade II historical building in 2009, making it a significant tourist destination with rich historical and cultural value.
